EYELINER FAQ

EYELINER FAQ

Eyeliner tattoo is a type of permanent makeup procedure that places pigment along the top and bottom eyelashes to define the eyes and gives an illusion of a thicker, darker and fuller lashes.

Similar to any other tattoo, eyeliner pigment is injected with a tattoo needle into the skin of the eyelid.

Each procedure is done under strict sanitation and sterilization rules. A well-trained, certified semi-permanent makeup artist administers each procedure using disposable needles and parts.

Highly effective topical anesthetic cream is used to numb the area to be treated. This helps to alleviate any minor discomfort you may experience during the procedure. Comfort levels varies according to individual pain threshold and response to anesthetics. Some people describe what they feel as ‘irritation’, ‘vibration’, or ‘a slight burning sensation’.

The pigments used on all our procedures are hypoallergenic and reactions to these products are extremely rare. However, after care instructions should be strictly followed to prevent any bacterial infection.

The initial procedure takes approximately 2.5 – 3  hours. The appointment includes brow shaping, customized colour matching and microblading/microshading. The first half of the appointment is the consultative component of the procedure and the second half is the microblading itself.

Color will always look darker and more intense immediately following a procedure. It will gradually lighten and soften upon healing, which should take about 3 to 7 days and continue to lighten over several weeks.

Semi-permanent makeup will last up to 2-3 years. It will gradually fade over time and we recommend that our clients come in for an annual touch-up to maintain a good shape and colour. However, the frequency of touch-ups depend on a number of factors including: your skin type, lifestyle (sun exposure), iron deficiency (your body absorbs iron-oxide as a supplement), and if any chemical peels come into contact with treated areas.

Semi-permanent makeup is a safe and reliable procedure and suitable for most people.  However, if you have any of the following conditions, please consult with your doctor before attempting any one of our procedures and bring a doctor’s note with you to your appointment.  If you have any of the following conditions and do not have a legitimate doctor’s note with approval, we cannot perform this procedure for you. There are no exceptions to this rule.

  • Pregnant and/or breast-feeding
  • On blood thinning medication
  • Have had injections/fillers in the brow area within the last 3 months
